My roles and writings
Durham University
2009-2013
I fell in love with Medieval Literature on the cobbled streets of Durham, where I studied for both my BA and my MA. I studied English Literature and Philosophy, later specialising in Old Norse and Old English literature. My Master's thesis was on the theme of lycanthropy in Old Norse sagas - that's Viking werewolves!
EFL Teacher at Hello Academies
2014-2016
I spent two years living and working as an English teacher in Prague (cobbled streets remain a theme). My students ranged from a class of bilingual preschoolers to PhD students and business professionals. Teaching allowed me to hone my technical understanding of the English language, and challenged me to adapt my tone, approach and resources to different ages and abilities.
Content Specialist
2016-2018
My work at digital content platform Glogster in Prague kick-started my interest in storytelling through content creation. I worked on the company's English-language marketing team, and spearheaded a project in collaboration with NASA.
When I returned to the UK, I joined digital marketing agency BozBoz, where I worked with a number of high-profile clients - from national charities and major music festivals to graffiti artists and medical service providers - adapting my style and tone fluidly for each, yet maintaining clarity, professionalism and perfect English throughout.
Freelance Writer
2018-Present
In 2018 I went freelance and never looked back. Since then my clients have included SaaS providers, international charities, and real estate professionals. In recent years I have turned my skills toward representing traditional crafters and heritage projects, drawing out the magic of craft as a touchstone to our history.
I have developed a particular specialism in writing educational material for museum exhibitions, having created the signboards and companion texts for both the Forgotten Fleece tales exhibition in Scotland, and the internationally touring Vararfeldr exhibition. Both projects allowed me to combine a keen love for traditional craft with research and creative writing, resulting in immersive and informative exhibitions that meet audiences on an emotional level.
Balefire Blades
2018-Present
The start of my freelance career coincided with the birth of swordsmithing business Balefire Blades. I manage projects, communicate with clients regarding their bespoke orders, and run the company's website and social pages - as well as turning my hand to a bit of bespoke leatherwork!
